List Of Tennessee Resorts Inside The Lifetime Travel Membership
Tennessee is a great location for a family vacation. I’ve vacationed in Gatlingburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville many times and have visited Crossville to see what’s there, so I’m familiar with most of the locations where the resorts listed below are located.
There are so many things to do and see in these areas. There’s surely fun for all ages and personality types. (Except for Crossville, that’s a “get there and stay on the lake” kind of vacation.)
There are no resorts in Nashville at the time of this posting, so here are my recommendations if you want to incorporate a Nashville segment.
Nashville/Gatlinburg Vacation Option 1
Plan to stay a night or two in Nashville either before or after your 1 week stay in the Gatlingurg area. This especially works well for those flying into and out of the Nashville airport (BNA). It’s a four hour drive from Nashville to gatlingburg but add another hour for traffic and road construction. Once you get outside the hustle and bustle of the traffic of Nashville, it’s a nice drive to the Sevierville exit 407.
Nashville/Gatlinburg Vacation Option 2
If you only have 7 days that you can get away for your vacation, consider a late check-in or early check-out of your resort. “DO” Nashville before you arrive or after you leave your resort destination. The cost of the travel club resorts through the membership are so inexpensive, even cutting it a day or two short will still save you money.
Nashville/Gatlinburg Vacation Option 3
Plan to take an overnight trip to Nashville during your week. This isn’t the best option because you’re wasting a day with your 8 hour round trip, but it’s not impossible. You could head to Nashville early one morning and be there by 10 am or so, spend the day and night in the big city to experience all the night life, and then drive back to “base home” and enjoy the rest of your stay at your resort.
I did this when vacationing in The Berkshires. That was our home base. We did all the things in that area, then took off for 2 days to explore Boston, Cape Cod to climb a lighthouse and go whale watching, and Plymouth Rock, before scooting back to base again. It was a blast! Our condo was only $398 for the week so missing 2 nights was no big deal.
The majority of resorts here in Tennessee are located in the stretch from the Sevierville exit, into Pigeon Forge and up into Gatlinburg. To the locals, it’s just one big “same” area and the trolly takes you back and forth between the towns for just change.
I’ve stayed at the Wyndham Smoky Mountain Resort in Sevierville. It’s a fantastic resort and had no complaints. I’d definitely go back.
I took this picture from the top of The Wheel looking down on the Island in Pigeon Forge. I wanted to go at night to see all the lights. You can get a combo ticket where you can go during the day and the night, but I opted for just the night.
Here’s a tidbit about The Wheel from The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel website.
Towering 200 feet-tall, the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel sits at the foot of the most visited National Park in the United States–Great Smoky Mountain National Park. It stands as one of the tallest attractions in the Southeast.
Stop by the Old Mill to get your fresh ground flour and watch a demo.
The Old Mill is situated along with many other shops so park the car and stroll. Pick up a handmade piece of pottery and watch an artist create.
If you want a great place to eat, I highly recommend The Pottery Restaurant Cafe’ and Grill. Let me just say… not only is the food amazing but the desserts are to die for. Had to make a couple “after dinner” runs from our resort to grab more pie!
Gatlinburg is a quaint mountiantop town with shops tucked in and around, cobblestone walks with beautiful flower planters and light poles, art galleries, quilt and book shops, woodworking and candle shops, pancake houses, whiskey mills, shows galore, fabulous eateries.
Take a tram to Ober Gatlinburg and enjoy the views. At the top you can ski, ice skate, eat, shop, slide, whatever your fancy.
You will enter the Smoky Mountain National Park area and you’ve got to take a drive up to the Park visitors center and if the weather permits, take a trail walk. It’s beautiful.
Driving through the Smoky Mountains is breathtaking, the hiking is amazing, and the pancakes are delicious!
